About Release:

The much anticipated Vindensång full-length debut is finally here, and it surpasses expectations with flying colors. This is truly unique music, an aural experience unlike any other, defying genre constrictions and forging it's own dark, overgrown path through the sonic cosmos. Traces of ambient, darkwave, post-rock, neofolk, and even a tiny little dash of black metal can be heard across it's generous run-time, but these are only nods, whispers, and hints. Vindensång is truly a beast of it's own, and no-one can deny sole musician J. Neblock's vision, creativity, and talent. From the first distant ringing of wind-chimes at the beginning of "Prologue: The Advent of Autumn/From Infinity" to the final, trailing rumble of "Epilogue: At Winter's End/To Infinity", "Terminus" opens a door to a haunting, dynamic, brooding universe of soundscapes that is as terrifying as it is cleansing. This is more than music - it is a chilling, cinematic journey into the mind and soul of a dying man. The main idea here is, of course, atmosphere, and it succeeds to the utmost degree. The long, sprawling songs are very deep and textural, and the crystal-clear production ensures that every little nuance reaches the listener. Subtle electronics entwine with acoustic plucking and distant electric guitar that floats atop simple yet inventive percussion, all interspersed with masterfully captured natural sounds for a very engrossing musical journey. Lyrically, "Terminus" is a concept album following the protagonist's struggle, pain, and eventual acceptance and transcendence while dying. The music flows well with the lyrics, each song very much setting the scene for what's going on in the story. Mysterious, eloquent lines are delivered in either a discreet whisper or a breathy rasp. The vocals are more felt than heard, never taking the forefront of the music. Even the beautiful CD booklet ties into the feel of it all, with it's obscure, arcane artwork, and in it, Neblock has provided the lyrics in full so it's easy to really immerse yourself in the plot and themes. All in all, a genius, genre-defying work of massive scope. Brilliant.
